Bio
My passion for animals began at a young age, thanks to the time I spent with my grandmother on her smallholding. We cared for a wide variety of animals, including ducks, chickens, geese, goats, cats, dogs, and horses. Our home was always open to rescue animals in need, and I have vivid memories of caring for countless cats and their kittens. My grandmother’s love for German Shepherds and Border Collies deeply influenced my mother, who went on to work with these breeds, training them for obedience, trials, and shows. She even became a veterinary nurse in the early years of her life. Growing up around these breeds of dogs, I learned early on about the constant grooming and care they required, which inspired me to pursue a career in dog grooming.
In 2001, I began working weekends at a dog grooming salon inside Petsmart. This experience was pivotal in my career, as I immersed myself in learning about different breeds and grooming techniques. My employer’s passion for grooming was contagious, and it motivated me to continue developing my skills. Unfortunately, when the salon relocated, my time there came to an end. However, in 2013, I was thrilled to secure a position at a pet retailer with the opportunity in dog grooming. This role played a significant part in shaping my career. I received extensive training, completed my Intro Level 3 C&G qualification, and earned numerous certifications. I eventually became a salon manager, opened different salons, and was honored with the title of Salon Manager of the Year. The friendships I made during this time remain strong to this day.
In 2017, I decided it was time to take the next step and open my own dog grooming business at Greenlane Farm. Around the same time, I acquired my first show Whippet, Olive, who has qualified for Crufts a number of times. My dogs are often by my side at the farm.
Committed to ongoing education, I completed my Level 3 OCN Diploma and regularly participate in webinars, seminars, and first aid training. Staying current with industry trends ensures that I can provide the best care for every pet that comes into my salon. To maintain the highest standards, I strictly adhere to the key principles of the Animal Welfare Act 2006.
